The Economist’s public-policy correspondent and Health Care Forum moderator Roger McShane said rising incidences of chronic disease, aging populations and unsustainable cost structures are challenging the world’s health-care systems.
"This year’s forum will look at how health-care professionals around the world are trying to improve care and lower costs," McShane said. "The challenges posed to old models of care are daunting, but they present enormous opportunities for innovation. Anyone who works in health care right now will want to hear from the experts we gather in the room on September 17th.”
Charles Goddard’s opening remarks will be followed by the keynote panel “Global health care at a turning point,” featuring Broussard, Dzau, Sorenson and others. Joining Goddard as moderators throughout the day are McShane and Vivek Muthu, Director of health care at The Economist Intelligence Unit, and co-founder and chief executive of Bazian.
Additional panel sessions will cover product innovation, price transparency, foreign models and an Oxford-style debate on Obamacare. The Forum closes with a post-event networking reception.
