WellTok Achieves HITRUST CSF Certification

Denver /PRNewswire-iReach/ --  WellTok, Inc., today announced that it has achieved Common Security Framework (CSF) Certified status from the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST). The CSF is the most widely adopted information security framework in the U.S. healthcare industry and the foundation of the HITRUST CSF Assurance Program, the most commonly utilized program for assessing the security posture of business associates and managing third-party compliance.

Achieving this status provides WellTok's CafeWell™ clients and partners with greater assurance for the protection of personal health information (PHI) and personally identifiable information (PII), and compliance with HIPAA and HITECH requirements. WellTok acts as a business associate for covered entities, and achieving the designation of HITRUST CSF Certified can dramatically streamline those clients' risk assessment and program launch processes.

"After achieving HIPAA compliance last year, becoming HITRUST CSF Certified demonstrates a significant step further to prove that we are doing everything we can to protect and secure PHI and PII," said John DiBiasi, WellTok's chief technology officer. "Because WellTok and its CafeWell social health network live at the intersection of healthcare and social media, we must live up to the highest standards of protection."

The HITRUST CSF Assurance Program provides multiple benefits to both healthcare organizations and their business associates by offering a common and efficient approach to managing security assessments associated with multiple and varied assurance requirements.

Solutionary, a security services company and HITRUST CSF Assessor, performed the HITRUST CSF assessment. "CSF Certified is a means of recognizing that WellTok has met all of the requirements of the CSF as defined by the industry," said Solutionary's Corey Meyer, Director of Security Consulting Services. "This provides internal and external parties with the greatest level of assurance that WellTok is appropriately managing risk by meeting those industry-defined and accepted security requirements; we are proud to have been part of this important initiative with WellTok."

About HITRUST
The Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) was born out of the belief that information security should be a core pillar of, rather than an obstacle to, the broad adoption of health information systems and exchanges. HITRUST, in collaboration with healthcare, business, technology and information security leaders, has established the Common Security Framework (CSF), a certifiable framework that can be used by any and all organizations that create, access, store or exchange personal health and financial information.  The CSF cross-references and harmonizes regulations such as those in the HITECH Act, as well as nationally and globally recognized standards such as ISO, NIST, COBIT, HIPAA and PCI.http://www.hitrustalliance.net/.
