Voalte Clinical Workflow Solutions Selected By UCSF Medical Center

State-of-the-Art Healthcare Facility Consolidates Communication and Alarm Functions on Smartphones

Voalte, the leader in healthcare communication technology, recently announced that UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay, part of the University of California, San Francisco, used Voalte Clinical Workflow Solutions to plan and implement the Voalte smartphone solution for clinical communication and alarm and alert notification. Voalte Clinical Workflow Solutions provides expert services to optimize clinical workflow and communication based on a comprehensive smartphone platform.

At any hospital, critical alerts require an immediate and accurate response. Recognizing the opportunity to bring three healthcare technology leaders together on behalf of patients, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital has chosen to expand their footprint with Connexall in the hospital’s Cardiac Unit. In conjunction with AirStrip and Voalte, Connexall now has the ability to obtain not just static waveforms, but also streaming waveforms provided by the AirStrip ONE platform and application. The data will be paired with the cardiac alert on Voalte smartphones, which serves as a secondary alarm notification, to provide caregivers with immediate notifications. When deployed together, the result can improve upon the granular alerting that Connexall leads the market in providing, giving clinicians pre-alarm context to help expedite and improve patient outcomes.

“The opportunity to leverage the mobile and integrative technologies provided by Connexall, Voalte, and AirStrip in the care of hospitalized pediatric cardiology patients has been outstanding,” stated Dr. Nicolas Madsen, MD, MPH, Pediatric Cardiologist, and Assistant Professor at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. “Our work with these technologies has allowed us new dexterity to innovate and improve the care of our patients. By increasing alarm specificity and reducing alarm noise, we are now able to design and execute a system of alarms that truly represents the clinician’s and bed side staff’s impression of the patient,” continued Dr. Madsen.

“Connexall is honored to be able to partner with a leading academic medical center such as Cincinnati Children’s to advance the delivery of pediatric care for which they are internationally renowned,” stated John Elms, Connexall president. “Through our collaboration with other industry leaders such as Voalte and AirStrip we are demonstrating that healthcare solutions are best created and implemented when we focus on positive outcomes more than on proprietary interests,” continued Elms.

“This partnership enables clinicians to make informed decisions more quickly, which can improve outcomes at the moment of care,” AirStrip President Matt Patterson, M.D., said. “Doctors and nurses at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital who need to be mobile can seamlessly and securely access crucial patient data in context anywhere, anytime.”

“This partnership with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Connexall and AirStrip is a perfect example of how technology collaboration is positively changing the delivery of critical health information,” said Trey Lauderdale, Voalte Founder and CEO. “Voalte is excited to partner with other industry leaders to deliver accurate patient information to clinicians, no matter where they are.”
