The service affiliate for Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA), which represents 37 healthcare organizations throughout Virginia, and Axial Exchange, a provider of health engagement software, have partnered to provide VHHA members access to Axial Patient for interactive health management. The solution is expected to aid Virginia’s healthcare systems and hospitals in satisfying requirements for patient engagement and meaningful use.

Virginia Hospital Shared Services Corporation, VHHA Services, is responsible for identifying technology solutions for the trade association’s members. The partnership with Axial Exchange, winner of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Partnership for Patients Initiative, allows all members to purchase Axial Patient for better patient outcomes. “Our hospitals and health systems are dedicated to continuously improving the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve,” said David Jenkins, VP of VHHA Services. “After a thorough review of solutions, Axial Exchange’s patient engagement application distinguished itself with its intuitive design, interactive content, and wealth of patient information.”

The Axial solution will allow patients in VHHA systems to access their health information through secure patient portals on any mobile device. Medical condition education, medication reminders, and health trackers for weight, blood pressure, glucose levels, and more are all provided in easy-to-use interfaces. With enhanced patient engagement, VHHA members can expect improved loyalty and satisfaction scores as well lower readmissions and more productive patient/provider relationships. “This partnership truly exemplifies the growing demand for innovative, accessible mobile health applications to enhance patient-provider communication,” said Joanne Rohde, CEO of Axial Exchange. “We are proud to have been selected by VHHA as a trusted partner, and we look forward to working with VHHA members to improve patient engagement initiatives throughout the Commonwealth.”

VHHA Services was founded in 1980 by the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association to help its members improve clinical, financial, and operational performance. VHHA’s 37 member health systems represent 110 community, psychiatric, and specialty hospitals as well as ambulatory care centers and nursing homes throughout Virginia. With its mission to help members improve the health status of the communities that they serve, VHHA centers its activities on providing representation and advocacy, education, communication, and health care data.
