Case Study

Using Allscripts Enterprise Analytics™ To Improve Patient Quality Scores

Source: Origin Healthcare Solutions

In this case study from Origin Healthcare Solutions we take a look at HealthEast Care System, an integrated healthcare system looking to increase – and exceed – quality performance benchmarks. HealthEast is located in St. Paul, Minnesota, with three hospitals, nine clinics and more than 7,000 employees.

HealthEast set a goal to have the highest quality performance in the state of Minnesota, designated by the state’s quality reporting program, Minnesota Community Measurement (MCM).

HealthEast initially was using a practice management system that required manual input of claims data and tracked measures only, not patient outcomes. These limitations caused HealthEast to search for a new system, eventually choosing Allscripts Enterprise EHR™. With the Allscripts Enterprise HMP™ preventive care tracking module, HealthEast is able to track and report valuable measures based on health claims data by enrolling patients in the system, and tracking pre-visit planning and clinic visits.

HealthEast also implemented the Allscripts Enterprise Analytics - licensed and manufactured by Origin Healthcare Systems, under the product name Precision.BI™ - as a value-add onto the Allscripts Enterprise EHR system. The system was initially purchased to report quality measures to the MCM, but has since grown to assist the management and improvement of patient’s personal healthcare and help meet the quality goals HealthEast set for themselves.
