TriageLogic Announces New Feature For Providing Quality Patient Care
Call Center Software can now integrate customized orders based on the specific preferences of each practice
TriageLogic announces a feature that allows health care practices to customize how nurses advise patients. With this technology, once the nurse has used the standardized protocols to determine the appropriate level of care, they can then follow tailored instructions based on the care and advice their physicians would give to patients.
By using custom orders as a supplement to standardized protocols, physicians can feel comfortable that their patients are getting the quality standard of care and instructions the physicians themselves would provide. According to Dr. Ravi Raheja, CEO and co-founder of TriageLogic, "I think it is really important that physicians have the option to customize the care of their own patients and make sure they have control over their after hours experience even when they are not taking the calls themselves."
One example of how this feature helps provide additional quality care was demonstrated during a recent nurse triage call. Late one evening, a mother was concerned about her three year old who had a fever. Using the Schmitt/Thompson protocols, the nurse determined the appropriate level of care was to keep the child at home rather than go to an ER.
Additionally, using the customized order based on the physician's preferences, the nurse advised the mother to use only Tylenol rather than a generic, and to call back if there was any negative change in the child's condition. However, the types of customization available extend far beyond generic or name brand. Other options may include specific ear drops for otitis externa, eye drops for conjunctivitis, or even a specific urgent care center or ER to go to if they need immediate treatment. The option allows the nurse to help patients as a true extension of the doctor's office.
According to a patient, "As a mother of four young children and often having to call my pediatrician's office, it is great to know that I am receiving individualized care over the phone even when I am not talking with my doctor. I feel very comfortable knowing that my kids are taken care of and that the nurses are relaying what my doctor would have said."
