Your Healthcare IT Patients’ Conditions Could Influence How They Access Health Data

Black Book Market Research has recently released the top EHR vendors named in their recent survey.

Winners of Black Book Market Research’s latest EHR vendor rankings include CPSI for rural, critical access, and hospitals with fewer than 100 beds; Cerner for community hospitals with between 101 and 250 beds; and Allscripts for hospitals with more than 250 beds.

“Black Book survey findings included a substantial improvement in reducing the gap between hospital nursing, physician, administrative, financial and technology stakeholder satisfaction, although there’s still a long way to go,” said Doug Brown, Managing Partner of Black Book in a press release.

According to iHealth Beat, the rankings are based on the client experience scores for:

  • accountable care organizations' data needs
  • add-on modules
  • administrative and documentation functionalities
  • certification-required EHR functionalities
  • clinical workflow functionalities
  • connectivity capabilities

EHR Intelligence reports the survey took into account the opinions of 14,000 nurses and 5,000 hospital staff using EHR technology among 702 hospitals. Hospital CIOs reported an increase in nurse satisfaction when it comes to EHRs. Sixty-nine percent attributed the increase in nurses' satisfaction was the result of nurses' EHR concerns being heard and addressed through system updates. Another 20 percent said improved EHR functionality and system updates led to higher satisfaction while 10 percent attributed the increase to adjustments in EHR use and training.

Fourteen percent of the nurses who responded felt clinicians’ perspectives were highly important when choosing a healthcare technology. Nineteen percent of hospital IT managers said they felt their current EHR system was not the best solution for operating their facility.

“In order to ensure high physician and nursing satisfaction within the healthcare system, providers will need to implement top EHR systems capable of meeting the demands of the industry and being customized to fit physician practice needs,” explained EHR Intelligence.
