Remote Monitoring In Healthcare

The InscrybeMD TeleHealth Tablets will be used to improve the care of patients with chronic illnesses.

InscrybeMD, a technology that allows healthcare providers to monitor patients in their homes as a supplement to in-office visits, is being implemented in three Florida hospitals to provide clinical services to patients in other facilities.

The hospitals implementing the InscrybeMD system are part of the Florida Hospital organization. One Florida-based hospital within the organization implemented the InscrybeMD system in 2014.

The three new hospitals within the Florida Hospital system will expand upon the existing use of the InscrybeMD telehealth solutions with InscrybeMD Telehealth Tablets, according to a news release on the implementation. The InscrybeMD TeleHealth Tablets are meant for patients with chronic illnesses and provide medication and appointment reminders, as well as educational videos.

According to Authentidate, the company that produces the InscrybeMD technology, the Telehealth Tablets also take a patient’s vital signs. This information is transmitted to the physician and can be utilized by the provider to adjust the patient’s plan of care if needed. Through the secure InscrybeMD web application, Florida Hospital providers view a patient’s vital sign and make adjustments that are communicated to the patient via the Telehealth Tablet device during scheduled sessions.

The InscrybeMD pilot program run by one hospital within the Florida Hospital system was designed to help patients with the follow-up care needed to manage chronic diseases and conditions, including chronic heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and diabetes and hypertension. Since implementing program, the hospital has been able to monitor patients remotely to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce unnecessary ER visits and hospital admissions, and improve patient satisfaction and experience.

The Florida Health System is part of the Adventist Health System, an organization with 45 hospital campuses and nearly 8,100 licensed beds in 10 states. Adventist Health also includes urgent care centers, home health and hospice agencies, and skilled nursing facilities.
