Tablet Computers Help Occupational Therapist Go Paperless
South Australian Occupational Therapist Melanie Dennis works daily with Motion's F5 Tablet PCs, both in her private practice and her wider consulting business running health informatics workshops with health professionals around Australia. Dennis was keen to streamline the administrative side of her OT business using technology, in order to reduce the time spent on re-entering and calculating information, eliminate duplication and reduce her reliance on paper. Her first PC went some way to meeting her requirements, but weighed 4.5 kilos and had battery life limitations. She wanted more efficiency and functionality; and definitely a lighter device to carry. Upgrading her mobile solution was increasingly important, as she was already consulting to healthcare professionals around the country on technology and paperless options.
"For me the Motion F5 had everything that I required on my checklist. It seemed to be the most advanced in portability, had the in-built camera I needed, security via the fingerprint reader, better battery life; and the connectivity that I needed out in the field. I didn't need the keyboard for typing that some models offered and I wanted the sleekness of a slate computer.
Melanie uses standard Microsoft® Office® software, with Windows® 7 operating system. The tablet allows her to 'ink' directly onto documents and she uses a client database which is linked to forms to allow auto-population of data. Access This Content To Read This Case Study In Its Entirety.
