T-System Acquires Marina Medical Billing Service

Acquisition is largest in T-System's history as company expands in the emergency medicine revenue cycle management market

T-System, Inc. recently announced its purchase of Marina Medical Billing Service, a leading emergency room medical coding/billing company based in Cerritos, Calif. The deal follows T-System's previous acquisitions of Clinical Coding Solutions and Practice Management Associates and signifies the company's expanding revenue cycle management solution offerings.

Marina Medical has provided emergency department (ED) physician coding and billing services for 30 years and now serves more than 110 facilities, representing 1,800 physicians in 13 states. T-System is the industry's leading provider of clinical, business and IT solutions for emergency medicine, with approximately 40 percent of U.S. hospitals using its solutions. Following this third acquisition, T-System will serve more than 1,900 client sites among 50 states.

"Marina Medical is regarded throughout the industry as highly ethical with a strong focus on quality, accuracy and customer service," said T-System COO Mikael Ohman. "Its culture and focus on emergency medicine is a natural fit for T-System. And joining forces with the Marina Medical team will help further strengthen T-System's physician services offered through our new RevCycle+ solution."

T-System RevCycle+, launched on June 11, offers advanced coding software, full-service facility coding and professional coding and billing, as well as consulting services for emergency medicine.

"2012 has been a year of remarkable growth for T-System," said Sunny Sanyal, T-System CEO. "We are thrilled to welcome Marina Medical Billing Service as the latest addition to the T-System family. Together, we can make a greater impact on the emergency medicine industry than we would be able to separately. This is a positive change for our employees, for our clients and for the industry."
