Survey Of Healthcare Professionals Names Satellite Healthcare's SPIN As A Top Electronic Medical Record System
Satellite Healthcare, among the nation's leading not-for-profit providers of kidney dialysis and related services, announced recently its SPIN suite was cited as a top electronic medical record (EMR) system by satisfaction score in the dialysis setting, in survey results reported in the February 2014 edition of Nephrology News & Issues. Nephrology Clinical Solutions (NCS) Research conducted the survey in May 2013, gathering responses from among its pre-qualified members representing healthcare professionals in the full range of dialysis practice settings.
The “Satisfaction with EMR Survey” placed SPIN (Satellite Partners Information Network) in the top 10 percent of 30 EMR systems evaluated for satisfaction with regard to workflow support, access and communications, and application training and support. SPIN’s high standing is particularly notable in that only 24 percent of respondents report being “very satisfied” with their current EMR system; another 52 percent are “somewhat satisfied,” and a significant 25 percent are “somewhat or very dissatisfied.”
SPIN provides a comprehensive, paperless collection of all critical dialysis patient information including demographics, notes, orders, labs and treatment details, as well as enterprise-wide medication administration information, stored securely and available to doctors, clinicians and administrators 24/7 on a variety of platforms. As supported by the results of the NCS Research survey, this suite of tools helps Satellite dialysis centers run efficiently and allows staff to dedicate more time to patients and their needs.
“We continue to invest significant resources to enhance our information systems and technology tools, and our investments are paying off in user satisfaction and cost-efficiencies,” said Mark Burke, President and CEO of Satellite Healthcare. “SPIN also represents significant strides toward our goal of 'meaningful use' of EMR— that is, used to achieve significant improvements in care — as set out in HITECH [The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act]. These survey results reflect the positive feedback we encounter every day in our centers.”
SPIN technology is fully integrated into the workflow of all Satellite dialysis centers, home-dialysis support centers and administrative offices. Secure web-based and mobile components of the SPIN suite connect referring physicians, medical directors, case managers and physician office staff to Satellite patient information from any Internet connection as well as from smartphones and tablets.
