Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Selects SA Ignite's Meaningful Use Solution
SA Ignite's MU Assistant Will Help Ease Providers' Path to Meaningful Use
(HIMSS Booth #1282) - SA Ignite, Inc., a provider of software solutions that streamline, automate and track the achievement of Meaningful Use (MU) of electronic health records (EHR), recently announced that Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, which serves patients in North and South Carolina, has selected its MU Assistant solution.
MU Assistant is a cloud-based software solution that helps providers streamline and automate the "last mile" of achieving Meaningful Use (MU) and attesting for Medicare incentive payments. MU Assistant has been dubbed the "TurboTax for Meaningful Use reporting" for its ability to automate MU reporting and enable one-click electronic attestation to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
As part of this agreement, 150 Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System providers will have access to the MU Assistant software, which will support them as they attest to MU. Providers who show "meaningful use" of a certified EHR are eligible for incentives from CMS. Beginning in 2015, providers who do not attest to MU are subject to financial penalties.
"We are thrilled to be working with Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System," said Tom S. Lee, Ph.D., CEO and founder of SA Ignite. "Our ability to integrate seamlessly with the our ambulatory EHR system is yet another example of the flexibility of our cloud-based software that automates MU monitoring and delivers electronic, one-click attestation from virtually any electronic medical record system."
MU Assistant automatically aggregates and monitors MU measures across multiple EHR systems and provides decision support tools, such as enabling easy selection of 90-day windows (for Medicare Payment Year 1) and suggesting MU exclusions that providers may claim. The MU Assistant then electronically files providers' data to the Medicare and Medicaid attestation web sites, providing a one-click attestation process, and electronically archives supporting data for potential audits.
"Automating our eligible providers' monitoring with MU Assistant ensures that no one slips through the cracks," said Jennifer VanOsdol, Spartanburg Regional's Regulatory Program Manager. "We especially like the Provider Scorecard feature that allows us to track MU performance on a daily, weekly, monthly or 90-day basis and compare providers' performance with user-defined peer groups to motivate behavior change.
It also helps us maximize incentive dollars for each year by streamlining the tracking of providers' payment years, along with applicable monitoring timeframes and MU rules."
It can take 30 staff hours per clinician to complete the MU attestation process*. Today's EHR reporting tools do not automate hundreds of manual reporting steps, such as finding 90-day reporting windows, setting exclusions, and populating attestation websites. MU Assistant will also allow Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System's physicians to:
- Gain insights by viewing day-by-day trends
- Get a quick snapshot of which physicians are ready to attest
- Communicate providers' performance to them via the system's Provider Scorecard
- Complete all information required for attestation through a single, simple interface
- File electronically, saving significant time and improving accuracy
- Electronically capture audit-related documentation
- Easily learn where exclusions are possible, helping physicians reach MU faster
- View future projections to further pinpoint issues and prepare for Stage 2 thresholds
