Guest Column: Lessons Learned From Improper Software Evaluation In Healthcare

There are many reasons for a failed system implementation in a healthcare environment, and this article will highlight a few lessons learned from not doing a proper software evaluation. A methodology that is clear, concise, systematic, and provides qualitative results, is the starting point to avoid these mishaps during a software implementation. This article will outline four mistakes made when selecting enterprise system software and include an example of a midsized healthcare facility that made all four of these mistakes during its evaluation process.
