Case Study: Alegent Health Dramatically Improves Caregiver Productivity

Alegent Health is the largest not-for-profit, faith-based healthcare system in Nebraska and southwestern Iowa, with 10 hospitals, more than 100 sites of service, over 1,300 physicians on its medical staff and 9,000 employees. Alegent Health Mercy Hospital, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Alegent Health Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, NE, were the first Alegent facilities to begin rolling out the ThinIdentity™ solution.

Alegent Health has thousands of caregivers who strive to improve their day-to-day workflow, and as a result improve the quality of patient care. In the past caregivers used centrally located PC's, workstations on wheels or portable tablet computers to record patient information as they moved between patient rooms. This approach proved to be costly and often times inefficient to their workflows, in addition to the overall inconvenience of always carrying around the tablets. "Our goal with the ThinIdentity solution, or "the Thin" as we call it, was not about technology," said Troy Hottovy, Alegent Health Operations Leader in technology management. "We wanted to enhance the patient experience by improving our caregiver workflow so that caregivers could spend more time with patients and get the data they needed very quickly."
