Selecting An EHR

The Valley Hospital selects EHR for solution that provides tools deliver safe, coordinated care

The Valley Hospital, of Ridgewood, NJ, has selected MEDITECH’S 6.1 EHR for use by its 900+ physicians to enhance patient safety and quality of care. The implementation includes lead adoption of the new CCU/ICU applications as well as physician, nursing, clinical departments, surgical services, revenue cycle, patient portal, and general financial applications.

A long-time customer of MEDITECH, Valley Hospital’s two-year selection process included executive visits from MEDITECH leaders. Additionally, officials from Kootenai Medical Center in Idaho and William W. Backus Hospital in Connecticut met with Valley Hospital’s physicians, sharing their experience in meeting clinical goals through the MEDITECH EHR.

“Our EHR evaluation was very involved and after careful consideration, we decided to continue our 20-year relationship with MEDITECH’s new and exciting 6.1 platform,” said Eric Carey, VP for information systems and CIO at Valley Hospital. “We wanted a solution that would excite our clinicians and provide them with the tools to carry out our mission to deliver safe, coordinated, and high-quality care for the members of our community. The partnership and value MEDITECH brings to the table stood out to our selection committee and Board of Trustees.”

Implementation of the new EHR system will begin this year. The platform features a new READY implementation plan, with pre-built evidence-based and expert-based standard content and physician support from MEDITECH’S staff of physicians, consultants, and application analysts. “We are 100 percent committed to quality and patient safety,” said Carey. “Couple that with cuts in reimbursement as a result of the Affordable Care Act, and MEDITECH was the obvious choice. The company shares both our mission and our responsibility to the patient community to do what is fiscally responsible. We look forward to continuing our relationship with MEDITECH.”
