Providence Care Selects QuadraMed's EHR Solution To Drive Regional Health Information Exchange Throughout Southeastern Ontario
Leading Canadian health system to advance clinical and operational efficiencies by securely sharing patient information between multiple hospitals
QuadraMed Corporation, a leading provider of healthcare technologies and services that transform quality care into financial health, announced recently that Providence Care selected its electronic health record solution, QuadraMed Computerized-Patient Record (QCPR), to further advance quality of care and drive regional patient data sharing for approximately 117,000 residents of Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Providence Care, a major teaching and research center as well as renowned specialty care provider, will implement QCPR, QuadraMed Enterprise Scheduling (QES) and QuadraMed Electronic Document Management (QEDM) at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital (144-bed hospital); Mental Health Services (198-bed hospital); Providence Manor (243-bed long-term care home); and 18 community locations across southeastern Ontario. Providence Care is a Kingston-based teaching hospital and health service provider, affiliated with Queen's University.
"Once we decided to replace our existing technology, we looked for a partner that could provide the required functionality and flexibility to support eHealth initiatives within southeastern Ontario," said Dan Coghlan, chief financial officer and vice-president of finance and information management.
Coghlan also noted that Providence Care will join with Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital, both of which are already QuadraMed clients, to create an integrated installation of QuadraMed that will be shared between the three hospitals and provide improved patient care for the residents of Kingston and the surrounding area.
"We look forward to helping Providence Care achieve its goal of real-time access to a single view of accurate patient data as part of its broader strategy of delivering high quality, coordinated care across the region," stated Duncan W. James, QuadraMed's Chief Executive Officer.
QCPR is an enterprise-wide electronic health record (EHR) solution that helps healthcare organizations to meet American Recovery and Reinvestment Act meaningful use objectives and improve patient safety and care through its closed-loop medication management, computerized physician order entry (CPOE), clinical decision support, and integrated laboratory and radiology management systems.
QES enables hospitals and health systems to centralize patient access and scheduling functions, improve staff utilization and reduce reimbursement delays.
QEDM helps organizations manage, process and securely store patient documents and images in a central database, resulting in streamlined access to disparate patient data and the exchange of accurate, secure health information throughout the continuum of care.
