PrimeSUITE Implementation Boosts Important Metrics At Birmingham Heart Clinic
This case study from Greenway covers the Birmingham Heart Clinic, a nine provider cardiology practice established in 1994 and how it was able to boost charge capture, pre-provider income, and patient visits during the inaugural deployment year of PrimeSUITE®.
Relocation to a larger facility in 2005 caused a large growth in the patient population, and a satellite location being added in 2008 encouraged more growth. The growing amount of patients and decentralized operation caused Birmingham Heart to feel the need to coordinate patient care away from paper charts, reconcile administrative tasks, and ensure that each patient was receiving proper care.
Another goal of Birmingham Heart was to modernize its technology to address public and private quality reporting initiatives such as Physician Quality Reporting, meaningful use, and anticipated accountable care. Birmingham Heart made the decision to use Greenway’s integrated electronic health record (EHR), practice management, and interoperability solution PrimteSUITE to accomplish its clinical, financial, and administrative goals. The system went live in January of 2009, and was quickly adopted by spring providing support for all members of the organization, led by Birmingham Heart Practice Administrator William Sester and Clinical Director Charlie Walker.
