Phytel Announces It Has Received ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Company's commitment to TQM aligns with clients' focus on quality improvement and use of Lean Six Sigma methods

Phytel, the leader in automated, provider-led population health improvement, announced recently that it has received ISO 9001:2008 certification of its Quality Management System. This certification attests to the fact that Phytel has fully deployed a Quality Management System (QMS) that operates in accordance with the total quality management (TQM) standards embodied in ISO's internationally recognized criteria.

ISO 9001:2008 certification is awarded to organizations that meet rigorous requirements for the full deployment of a Quality Management System and for using a systematic approach to managing and improving their processes and procedures. The certification process culminates in an intensive five-day, company-wide audit where the QMS is thoroughly evaluated against ISO standards and where non-conformance to those standards is noted for correction. The audit process identified zero non-conformances of any type and the ISO-selected auditing firm recommended the company for certification.

Steve Schelhammer, CEO of Phytel, said, "We are delighted to achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification which attests to our commitment to continuous quality improvement. Phytel's culture is driven by and is in complete alignment with the Total Quality Management principles inherent in ISO's standards. In working towards this certification, we have addressed every aspect of Phytel's operations and have thoroughly involved every employee in the deployment of our Quality Management System."

Richard Hodach, PhD, MD, MPH, chief medical officer of Phytel, commented, "Phytel's commitment to TQM is in precise alignment with our clients' focus on quality improvement as they also are using TQM approaches to increase efficiency and achieve world-class patient outcomes. Achieving ISO [9001:2008] certification gives our clients the confidence that we are maintaining the very best practices and processes to help drive their population health management capabilities."

Phytel's ISO 9001:2008 certification demonstrates its alignment with clients that are using Lean and Six Sigma methods to reduce waste and improve quality in their own organizations. Phytel customers are reaping the benefits of a TQM based approach to health care transformation as they are shifting toward a population health management healthcare delivery model.

Ashok Rai, MD, president and CEO of Prevea Health in Green Bay, Wis., said, "We congratulate Phytel on achieving ISO [9001:2008] certification. Prevea is fully committed to improving population health, using Phytel's automation tools and the principles of total quality management. We believe strongly that Lean and Six Sigma can help Prevea maximize efficiency in our operations, and we know that Phytel is right beside us in embracing TQM to create better outcomes for our patients at a lower cost."
