Banner Health aims to provide patient engagement and education throughout entire system with enterprise solution

Banner Health has collaborated with Krames StayWell to provide patient engagement and education programs throughout its entire healthcare system. This enterprise solution is expected to standardize patient education that is provided across all electronic channels within Banner’s continuum of care.

One of the largest nonprofit healthcare systems in the country, Phoenix-based Banner serves a seven state region in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada, and Wyoming. It comprises 24 acute care hospitals, along with Banner Health Network and Banner Medical Group, long-term care centers, outpatient surgery centers, family clinics, home care, hospice services, and a nursing registry. Named one of the “Top Five Health Systems in the U.S.” by Truven Health Analytics, Banner Health ranks seventh in SDI’s” Top 100 Integrated Health Networks” and is one of Hospital and Health Network’s “Most Wired Health Systems” in the country. Internationally recognized for research, it also offers a 55-bed simulation medical center for provider training.

As an Accountable Care Organization (ACO), Banner’s mission to improve patient’s lives required collaboration across the organization. In addition, the system had many different electronic medical records and sought a solution that could access all content with standardized patient education. “We needed to streamline the process to deliver a consistent message across the whole continuum,” said Theresa Lindahl, team leader for patient education at Banner. “Krames StayWell’s solution allows us to deliver the same message to the patient on subsequent visits, in all different facilities. That consistency helps improve readmissions and the reinforcement helps the patient manage their health.”

Krames StayWell is the single largest provider of patient education and consumer health information in the country. Its digital and mobile solutions are being employed to provide a consistent message across Banner’s acute, emergency, and ambulatory locations and on Bannerhealth.com, the system’s website. “Krames StayWell recently launched our ACO 360° solution, a comprehensive patient engagement solution for ACOs, so working with a pioneer ACO like Banner Health is very exciting,” said John George, Executive Vice President at Krames StayWell. “We have the technical capability and content quality to help Banner Health achieve their goal of improving communication and providing effective, consistent messages across their entire network.”
