Franklin, MA - JACO, an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of point-of-care (WOWs) Workstations On Wheels is proud to announce a new (EMR) Electronic Medical Record workstation rollout at Oswego Health.  Founded over a century ago, Oswego Health provides healthcare services to its entire community in upstate New York. With recent investments made in its facilities and equipment over the past several years, this forward-thinking health system continues to raise its standard of care to new heights, and its new rollout of WOWs is a testament to its commitment to service the entire community of Oswego County with world-class healthcare.

One of the Oswego Health’s recent investments is in a new (EHR) Electronic Health Record software to automate its medical information capturing and record keeping process. By utilizing ProVation Medicals’ EHR software solution, Oswego Health will gain greater accuracy with its medical records which will provide its team of healthcare professionals with vital information to improve care and address immediate health concerns for patients. In order to fully leverage this powerful EHR software, Oswego Health is utilizing JACO’s Workstations On Wheels throughout the entire hospital to achieve true bedside care.

Selecting JACO UltraLite WOWs for its new EMR rollout, Oswego Health was able to make use of JACO’s capabilities to customize its fleet of carts in addressing the particular needs of each department of the hospital. JACO Inc. designs, manufactures, assembles and services its product line in its corporate facility located in Franklin, MA. The UltraLite Workstation Series is constructed of aircraft-grade aluminum and steel and it’s with great pride that the company stamps its entire product line with the words Made-In-America.

Oswego Health selected JACO’s UltraLite 500 lithium powered Workstation On Wheels series and the UltraLite 200 non-powered series for EMR implementation. By incorporating an on-board lithium iron power system on their UltraLite 500 series carts, nurses will receive full shift mobile runtimes and fast battery recharging thereby allowing the staff to keep their focus on providing care and not wasting precious time waiting for a charging workstation. In addition to the lithium power systems, these durable WOWs are configured with numerous options and features like storage drawers for medication delivery, scanner holders for barcode scanning for (BMV) Bedside Medication Verification and ergonomic monitor displays and keyboard trays.

One of the unique features to JACO’s UltraLite 500 Series is a patented TRAC steering system. TRAC steering operates very similar to the steering controls of a hospital bed.  To engage the TRAC systems, nurses step down on a foot lever. This patented steering system provides improved traction control for steering a cart down hallways and in and out of patient rooms. TRAC steering has been proven to help reduce nurse fatigue associated with steering a WOW by upwards of 40% over carts without a sophisticated steering system. Investing in this technology, Oswego Health has helped to protect the health and wellbeing of its clinical team by reducing the likelihood of on-the-job injuries.

Oswego Health also selected JACO’s non-powered mobile cart series for certain applications at the hospital. The UltraLite 200 series is the lightest weight mobile cart in the healthcare industry, with a starting weight at just over 40lbs. Featuring a small base footprint and infection-control ready non-porous powder coat surface finish, the UltraLite 200 non-powered  series provides their  team healthcare professionals with a flexible laptop WOW solution to move effortlessly throughout Oswego Hospital.  Oswego Health purchased their new fleet of JACO WOWs through JACO’s information technology partner, Flexible Business Systems. Flexible Business Systems provides IT products and services to health systems in both metropolitan and rural areas of New York.
