Orion Health Updates HIE Offerings To Enhance Care Coordination And Improve Clinical Data Sharing Within And Between Facilities
Orion Health HIE Helps Public and Private HIEs Increase Physician and Patient Adoption of Clinical Technology, Improve Quality of Care and Meet Meaningful Use Requirements
Orion Health, the leader in health information exchange (HIE) and healthcare integration solutions, recently announced new and enhanced functionality now available in the latest version of Orion Health HIE. Orion Health HIE, the technology backbone for enterprise and community-wide clinical data sharing, is used by hospitals, health systems and public HIEs across the U.S. Enhancements to Orion Health HIE improve the clinical workflow and enable healthcare organizations to better share critical patient information between provider facilities, HIEs, clinicians and patients; improve care coordination and quality of care; and meet Meaningful Use requirements.
"Orion Health has deployed dozens of successful, sustainable health information exchanges in the U.S. and around the world. This affords us a deep understanding of the challenges that healthcare organizations face when forming HIEs and the business and clinical needs that must be met," said Paul Viskovich, president of Orion Health North America. "Orion Health HIE helps healthcare organizations of all types thrive in all stages of their development. Additionally, Orion Health HIE and related products are certified for Meaningful Use, so our customers can use them to successfully measure healthcare cost and quality, and secure incentive payments."
"Orion Health's HIE solution provides our physicians with the ability to exchange patient-related data with their peers both in the facility as well as in the surrounding community," said Ann Carey, vice president and chief information officer, St. Vincent's HealthCare in Jacksonville, Fla. "This, combined with the ability to view patient data from various systems on a single dashboard, will empower physicians that work with us to advance our organizational mission of providing unmatched care to the people of Jacksonville and the surrounding communities."
Enhancements to Orion Health HIE core products include:
- Provider Portal – A new Timeline View allows a clinician to review a patient's clinical history over time, improving their ability to see a holistic medical history. Orion Health Clinical Portal 7.0 is a certified 2011 Complete EHR.
New Orion Health HIE options include:
- Business Intelligence & Analytics – Provides administrators and clinicians with pre-built clinical quality dashboards for Meaningful Use reporting. The extensible framework allows organizations to create their own reports by integrating their own data.
- Integration Toolkit – New integration options, based on internationally recognized standards, improve the flexibility of federated data exchange. The Orion Health hybrid model allows Orion Health HIE to be platform agnostic, enabling connections to any existing systems and bridging the communication gap between organizations with varying levels of IT capabilities.
Enhancements to existing Orion Health HIE options include:
- Patient Portal – Updates allow the patient to become an integrated part of the care delivery team by providing access to care pathways and allowing patients to self-report clinical data to their physicians over the internet. A new Timeline View simplifies the ability for patients to visualise and manage their conditions over time, and the User Feedback module enables patients to suggest enhancements to the services they use.
- Case Management – Enhancements focus on ensuring clinical pathways work equally well in regional population management (across numerous organizations) and within single organizations. This tool, which helps care teams manage long-term conditions using evidence-based guidelines, has also been updated with features that enable the creation of a medico-legal record.
- NwHIN Gateway – Orion Health has released version 2 of NwHIN Gateway, which enables Orion Health HIE users to connect to the Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN) to query patient information from other organizations on the Network and vice versa.
Orion Health HIE is a comprehensive solution that facilitates information sharing within and between facilities and HIEs. With flexible options for connectivity, Orion Health HIE offers the ability to provide services at all levels of information exchange. Additional features include EMR Lite, Orders, Public Health Reporting, Problem List, Secure Messaging (Direct Project), which allows healthcare providers to send and receive secure text-based email messages over the internet; and Clinical Care Document (CCD) Generation, which generates a CCD from content in Orion Health CDR that can then be viewed in Clinical Portal or sent to a user's EMR system or to a Direct Project email address via Secure Messaging.
The company will showcase Orion Health HIE along with the new version of Rhapsody Integration Engine (also announced today) at the 2012 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference (booth 4255).
