Orion Health Selects HealthTerm For Advanced Terminology Management And Data Normalization

(HIMSS Booth #4435) – Orion Health, a population health management and healthcare integration company, has selected HealthTerm® from CareCom, a healthcare software company, to enhance terminology management and data normalization. Orion Health will leverage HealthTerm's unique ability to produce normalized data, required in effective exchange of clinical information from disparate sources.

Orion Health aggregates information from a variety of sources to create a longitudinal patient health record that is accessible by payers and providers to support patient care. The system matches information across organizations to a normalized standard, facilitating seamless exchange, better clinical understanding and higher accuracy for reporting and analytics. HealthTerm’s ability to support these processes and manage data at the terminology level will help Orion Health and its Healthier Populations and Rhapsody® Integration Engine customers comply with the Meaningful Use program and normalization of local content.

“We chose to partner with CareCom because of its ability to support a global approach to semantic interoperability as well as its advanced tooling set for all aspects of content maintenance. This will support Meaningful Use attestation and help both Orion Health and our customers normalize clinical data,” said Ian McCrae, CEO, Orion Health.

The HealthTerm system provides real-time mapping of local codes to universal terminology standards and offers a better approach to maintaining terminology standard updates within a health information exchange (HIE) at an incredibly fast response time. As a comprehensive terminology management system when integrated with Orion Health’s Open Platform and/or Rhapsody Integration Engine, HealthTerm will provide a variety of services, including data normalization, mapping, and system integration. HealthTerm will serve as a single source for terminology management and allow for the collection and utilization of accurate and actionable clinical information.

Delivered in a hybrid cloud approach, the Orion Health Global Managed Services team in collaboration with CareCom will host, manage and maintain the core health terminology cloud service. This service will be included as part of the Orion Health Open Platform solution. With the Rhapsody HealthTerm tool kit subscription, the service will be made available to clients to integrate on premise systems. With industry standard service level agreements and 24/7 security monitoring, the service provides the highest levels of security assurance.

“Orion Health is a leader in population health management and a great partner who understands the importance of interoperability, analytics and how using information technology improves patient care and provides value to population health management,” said Jacob Boye Hansen, Chief Executive Officer of CareCom. “We are excited that our product has been selected to optimize the management of data within HIE’s to help Orion Health provide a more accurate picture of patient care across the globe.”

Representatives from Orion Health will be at the 2015 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Chicago, from April 13th through April 15th, and will be available to discuss this partnership at booth #4435.
