EHR And Revenue Cycle Management

Providence Medical Center expects EHR/RCM rollout to help provide high quality patient care while optimizing revenue cycle management.

Healthcare reforms have affected the medical billing industry and brought about numerous changes to medical practices. Given the multitude of recent and upcoming changes, providing high quality patient care and optimizing revenue cycle management is not an easy task for medical practices. Operating costs are rising across the nation and Providence Medical Center has a plan to get these costs under control.

Providence Medical Center recently announced they intend to implement GroupOne Health Source's OneRate platform of medical billing and EHR services for 40 of Providence's health providers.

The OneRate package includes medical billing services and the use and implementation of an electronic health records system (EHR) for one price based on a percentage of overall collections. OneRate is designed as a comprehensive solution for practices, like Providence Medical Center, which provides:

  • Use of eClinicalWorks, a privately-held leader in the unified electronic health records (EHR) marketplace. The unified system is utilized by 85,000+ physicians, 49,000+ facilities, and 545,000+ users. Given the extensive functionality found in its solutions, the system is well positioned to help providers meet any regulations that arise from the Meaningful Use stimulus package.
  • Comprehensive medical transcription services.
  • Professional coding and billing services, via the GroupOne Billing Center.

Providence is using the OneRate platform of services to facilitate the integration of physician practices into their multi-specialty network of providers across the greater Kansas City area.

"With operating costs rising in medical practices across the nation, we at Providence Medical saw a great opportunity to partner with a proven leader in the medical billing industry in GroupOne," said Terry Jett, Director of Physician Services at Providence Medical Center. "As a multi-specialty hospital system, we are excited to announce this relationship with GroupOne and believe it will continue to set us apart as a premier health care solution for our patients and physicians."

Providence Medical Center, a 400-bed acute care hospital, and Saint John Hospital, an 80-bed acute care hospital, offer a range of diagnostic and treatment care.  Providence's key services include cardiovascular care, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and state-of-the-art spine and joint centers. At Saint John, the hospital specializes in emergency care, senior behavioral health, rehabilitation, and ambulatory surgery. Established in Kansas City in 1918, the health network is currently operated by Prime Healthcare Services.
