Inefficient Communications In Healthcare

Major Hospital in Shelbyville will use the HIPAA-compliant system for clinical documentation and to reduce response time, improve workflow, and ensure quality patient care.

Major Hospital in Shelbyville, IN has adopted Diagnotes, a mobile communication system that is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), for clinical communication and documentation.

Diagnotes is a mobile communication system that features secure texting, provider scheduling, clinical documentation, an answering service, and EMR integration. The system is available for both iOS and Android devices and can be web-based.

Diagnotes also allows for remote documentation of patient encounters that occur in the hospital or other care settings away from the office, according to a news release on the adoption. The clinical documentation component of Diagnotes allows staff to document a patient encounter on whatever mobile device they prefer – smartphone, tablet, or laptop. The documentation is securely transmitted to the office staff, ensuring both continuity of care and revenue cycle management.

Diagnotes allows providers and office staff to securely and seamlessly exchange text messages and attachments. In addition to reducing clinical response time through secure text messaging, Diagnotes enables users to attach and securely send photos and documents that can provide detailed information for diagnosis and clinical care decisions, the news release continues.

Major Hospital, an 89-bed facility, will use Diagnotes’ EMR integration capability to link the system’s components with its EMR. The hospital has equipped its 300 physicians, nurses, and clinical support team members with Diagnotes, which allows for mobile access to patient medical records, automatically delivers key data, and ensures positive patient identification, the news release notes. Patient-specific alerts can be set up for events such as admission, discharge, and transfer. The hospital aims to use Diagnotes to streamline communication and documentation and reduce response time, improve workflow, and ensure quality patient care.
