Miami's Doctor's Medical Center Implements Vitera's Intergy Meaningful Use Edition

Vitera Healthcare Solutions, one of the nation's largest providers of electronic health records and practice management software and services, recently announced that Doctor's Medical Center has chosen Vitera Intergy Meaningful Use Edition to streamline care, improve care outcomes and deliver electronic efficiencies across all of its sites. The seven-site, 23-physician practice in Miami has more than 150 support and administrative staff and more than 100,000 patient visits annually. Vitera Intergy Meaningful Use Edition enables Doctor's Medical Center to securely view patient clinical records at any one of its sites and helps drive efficient and effective patient care.

"We chose Vitera Intergy Meaningful Use Edition because our focus is really about providing better service, information and being able to educate our patients," said Dr. Fermin Leguen, Chief Medical Officer for Doctor's Medical Center. "We're convinced that this will help us improve overall quality of care."

Prior to implementing the Vitera Intergy Meaningful Use Edition suite, which includes the powerful Practice Portal and Practice Analytics modules required for Meaningful Use certification, Doctor's Medical Center used a partially installed EHR system and continued to rely heavily on paper charts.

The goal of Doctor's Medical Center is to become completely paperless by May 2012, and well on its way to obtaining federal Meaningful Use stimulus funds. Once the conversion from paper is finalized, the practice will search new, more profitable uses for the freed space currently occupied by thousands of physical records.

"We expect to operate more efficiently, from our welcome desk staff to our clinical patient rooms," Leguen said. "Now we'll have information at our fingertips for review rather than having to go through pages and pages of paper records. For us it's a great advantage, especially since we'll be able to have the same medical record available at all seven of our centers at the same time."

Ease of use and access to information were the catalysts for the decision to upgrade to Vitera Intergy, but Doctor's Medical Center also expects Intergy Meaningful Use Edition to have a positive impact to its practice and its patients.

Matthew Hawkins, Chief Executive Officer of Vitera, states that customers continually tell him ease of use and robust analytics capabilities are key reasons they choose the Vitera Intergy practice management and EHR suite.

"Customers, such as Doctor's Medical Center, are beginning to see the ease of working with us and our solutions and discovering the Vitera Way of helping our customers achieve practice and clinical success," said Hawkins. "We're doing things to please our customers and meet their needs, providing intuitive solutions and allowing them to focus on their practices and patients.

"We want every practice to benefit fully from being Meaningful Use certified, and our unique solution helps them do just that. Our goal is to be our customers' most trusted partner. In fact, since 2011, Vitera Healthcare Solutions has helped its physician clients secure more than $2M in federal Meaningful Use incentives."

Vitera Practice Portal is a HIPAA-compliant, web-based tool that enables patients to communicate with their physicians regarding their care, view lab results, schedule appointments and pay their invoices.

Vitera Practice Analytics allows practices to analyze detailed clinical and financial data to manage health outcomes of patient populations and track workflows and efficiencies within the business.

"With Practice Analytics, there is no need to look through paper-based patient records to get accurate patient histories, or review previous patient care data. We can use Practice Analytics to securely and safely view patient information and practice information at the touch of a button. That saves us time and lets our practitioners focus on our patients," Leguen said.
