MGMA-ACMPE Unveils Unique New DataDive Procedural Profile Module For Medical Practice Professionals
As physicians and medical practice professionals work together to effectively and efficiently run their organizations, they will need a deeper understanding of their patient population's utilization of healthcare services. Recently, MGMA-ACMPE released DataDive: 2012 Procedural Profile Module, which can be used to understand patient base, explore potential new service lines, and ensure adequate practice staffing.
This Web-based tool allows users to develop an organizational profile which can then be benchmarked against peers using national and credible MGMA data. Additionally, the data can be used, in part, to better understand patient demand and future workload.
“As the industry shifts to be more collaborative in providing care to patients, a thriving and patient-centered organization will have a clear understanding of their population,” said Susan L. Turney, MD, MS, FACMPE, FACP, MGMA-ACMPE president and CEO. “This knowledge will provide physicians and practice staff a profound opportunity to better serve their patients and provide insight to help understand the ailments and severity of each case.”
The tool can also be used by practice professionals to compare procedures with other practices in the same specialty and region.
“The ability to document and benchmark this information is extremely helpful to medical practices seeking a comprehensive view of their business,” said Nancy M. Enos, FACMPE, CPC-I, MGMA Health Care Consulting Group. “Indicators such as these allow practices to allocate and evaluate expenses appropriately and determine staffing ratios based on types of procedures performed, which ultimately impacts the way the practice does business and allows staff to remain focused on patient needs.”
The MGMA DataDive: 2012 Procedural Profile Module includes top procedures by specialty, categorized by region and populations; top procedures by CPT chapters: surgery, medicine, E&M, anesthesia, laboratory and radiology; and coding profiles by level of compensation or level of production. MGMA DataDive is an easy-to-use, Web-based format that allows users to access and drill down data for analysis.
