Mercy Health Expands Use Of Explorys Big Data Analytics Platform, Risk Models And Value-Based Care Programs

Nationally Ranked Health System to Leverage Explorys’ Risk Stratification and Mitigation Solutions to Predict Risk and Identify Utilization for Efficient Care Coordination and Improved Clinical and Financial Outcomes

Explorys, the leader in big data-driven healthcare transformation, announced that Mercy Health, a provider of advanced, compassionate, quality care in Ohio, has expanded its relationship with Explorys, signing a multi-year contract with the company. Mercy Health will leverage the Explorys Risk Models and Value-Based-Care Program Framework to support its Value-Based Contracting programs, which include: the Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organization (ACO), several commercial ACOs, Medicare Advantage programs, the Employee Health Plan, and HealthSpan Integrated Care.  HealthSpan serves most of Ohio’s major metro areas, with health plans for individuals and families, companies, and Medicare and Medicaid members.

Mercy Health first joined the Explorys Network in 2011 and has since deployed the company’s cloud-based, big data analytics platform to all of its markets, including over 50 care coordinators, to identify and close gaps in care for the populations it serves. The Explorys Platform has been instrumental in supporting Mercy Health’s PCMH accreditation process and rapid-cycle improvement in PCMH practices, as well as enabling population management and performance measurement for its MSSP program, including supporting a successful submission of the MSSP performance results through the GPRO reporting process in 2012 and 2013.

“Explorys has been a key part of our health IT strategy for several years,” stated Rebecca Sykes, Mercy Health’s Senior Vice President, Resource Management & Chief Information Officer. “They complement and extend the value of our EMR and enterprise data warehouse enabling us to better serve both our patients and their physicians.”

Explorys introduced a series of pre-configured value-based care Program Frameworks in early 2014 to address the common needs of its national client base relative to population assessment, contract analytics, population health management registries, integrated workflow, quality measures, performance dashboards, and specialized reports.  Designed as configurable templates, these frameworks support commercial and public ACOs, Medicare Advantage programs, and pay-for-performance contracts.

Mercy Health will also utilize the Explorys Risk Models for both its commercial and Medicare populations.  The Explorys Risk Models’ best-in-class performance is due in large part to the advanced analytics applied to a richer data set – one that has much more depth and breadth by incorporating procedures and medications, demographics and diagnoses – a key differentiator that leverages the deep clinical data available in the Explorys platform.

“As the healthcare industry shifts from a fee-for-service to a value-based model of care, few organizations have kept pace while continuing to innovate like Mercy Health has,” said Stephen McHale, Explorys CEO.  “We are so excited to see great partners like Mercy Health not only renew their subscriptions, but also expand their capabilities in value-based care because of the innovation we have brought forth.”
