Meaningful Use Stage 2 At Carson Tahoe Health

Carson Tahoe Health has leveraged Allscripts Sunrise to attest for Meaningful Use Stage 2, placing it among the first inpatient healthcare facilities in the United States to meet Meaningful Use Stage 2 criteria.

Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) of Carson City, NV, has attested for Meaningful Use Stage 2 through its use of Allscripts Sunrise. The provider network is one of the nation's first inpatient healthcare facilities to reach this milestone.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) specified criteria for Meaningful Use Stage 2 in September 2012. In order to participate in CMS EHR Incentive Programs, eligible providers (EPs) and eligible hospitals (EHs) must demonstrate EHR support for the criteria, which include quality management, data portability, clinical decision support, demographics clinical quality measures, clinical information reconciliation, and transitions of care, among others. "It is a rigorous process to attest for Meaningful Use Stage 2," said Ann Beck, VP and CFO at Carson Tahoe Health. "We have been leveraging Allscripts Sunrise advanced clinical decision support for many years and we would like to thank the Allscripts team for their support facilitating this important goal."

Allscripts, a leading provider of HIT solutions, offers a suite of open and innovative EHRs. The Sunrise platform integrates clinical and revenue cycle management across a continuum of care in one central database. "Allscripts congratulates CTH for attesting for Meaningful Use Stage 2," said Paul M. Black, president and CEO of Allscripts. "It is no easy task and this achievement is a reflection of the quality of the organization and its people. We are proud to support CTH and to contribute to the tremendous things that they are accomplishing for their patients and for the region."

CTH had humble beginnings in 1949 as a 10-bed facility serving Carson City's than 2,500 residents. Evolving into the current nonprofit unified health system, CTH now serves a population of over 250,000 residents of northern Nevada and eastern California and features a 190-bed acute care hospital, 29-bed long term acute care center, Nevada's only Gold Level Certified cancer center, urgent care facilities, and multiple locations of medical support facilities. The network provider hosts northern Nevada's only "CardioONE" open heart surgery program and boasts designation as the state's only "Baby-Friendly Hospital". Specializing in services for women and children, cardiac, rehabilitation, surgical, outpatient, and cancer, CTH has made recruiting top physicians a priority; the hospital medical staff includes over 240 board-certified doctors in more than 35 specialties.
