Lehigh Valley Health Network Selects QuadraMed Computer-Assisted Coding Solution To Improve Coding Processes And Prepare For ICD-10
Acclaimed health system is first U.S. provider to deploy new Quantim CAC module
QuadraMed Corporation, a leading provider of healthcare technologies and services that help to turn quality care into positive financial outcomes, announced recently that Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) selected its Quantim Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC) solution to improve coder accuracy and productivity and help prepare for the transition to ICD-10. Allentown, Pa.-based LVHN, which includes three hospitals and numerous physician practices in eastern Pennsylvania, is the first U.S. health system to purchase the newest addition to QuadraMed's comprehensive Quantim Health Information Management (HIM) solution.
"After carefully evaluating several vendors' HIM solutions, we selected Quantim because it enables us to use a single solution to address our immediate and future coding and billing challenges," said Carolyn Murphy, Director, HIM Coding and Clinical Outcomes at LVHN. "With Quantim CAC, we will be able to streamline our processes and improve turnaround time between patient discharge and final bill. More importantly, the software will increase coding accuracy and staff productivity, which we expect to help ease the transition to ICD-10 when it takes effect in 2013."
The advanced functionality of Quantim CAC also influenced the provider's decision, as did their long-standing relationship with QuadraMed. "Quantim CAC's integrated inpatient and outpatient coding solution is designed to work well with our existing Quantim Encoder and Compliance modules, making it an ideal choice both from both a cost-saving and operational efficiency perspective," stated Murphy. "QuadraMed has provided us with excellent service over the past 15 years and we look forward to our expanded relationship."
Designed for single and multi-facility healthcare organizations, Quantim CAC combines the proven, knowledge-based, Quantim Encoder with the power of a natural language-processing engine that automatically reads and interprets electronic clinical documentation provided by healthcare practitioners. The next-generation coding solution automatically generates suggested medical codes for coders to review and validate, accelerating code submission to billing systems.
Quantim CAC integrates with the entire suite of Quantim solutions including coding and compliance, abstracting, electronic document management, clinical document improvement and record management.
"We are committed to providing health systems with innovative technology to help them successfully adjust to rapidly changing business demands in the healthcare industry, such as the ICD-10 transition," said Duncan W. James, CEO of QuadraMed. "We look forward to strengthening our relationship with LVHN and are confident that our Quantim CAC solution will help them meet the many challenges of coding and compliance, both now and into the future."
