King Fahad Medical City Hospital Wins 'Hospital Build & Infrastructure Award' For The Installation Of Barco's CareConnex Solution

Enterprise visualization expert Barco is proud to announce that its customer King Fahad Medical City (KFMC), Saudi Arabia’s largest medical facility, recently won the ‘Hospital Build & Infrastructure Award’ in the category ‘Best Technology Initiative’. The award, which was presented during ‘Hospital Build and Infrastructure’ trade fair in Dubai, acknowledges KFMC for the installation of Barco’s CareConnex solution, powered by Hospedia, for patient entertainment and communication as well as clinical access.

The Hospital Build & Infrastructure Awards recognize market leaders in the healthcare industry who have worked hard to build hospitals or improve healthcare services and raise the bar in providing world-class patient care. The ‘Best Technology Initiative Award’ shows how highly healthcare experts value CareConnex, Barco’s interactive patient care solution that KFMC deployed across its prestigious 140-bed Rehabilitation Hospital.

Entertainment, communication and clinical access
Comprising 18.5” widescreen bedside terminals, mounting arms, back-office systems and interactive patient care software powered by Hospedia, CareConnex offers entertainment and communication services to patients, while providing the hospital staff with seamless clinical access. The local system integrator working with Barco customized the software to ensure that the interface and applications would meet the hospital’s specific needs, such as VoIP telephony, the hospital information system (HIS) and other networked systems.

More patient comfort, enhanced clinical workflow
“The patients at the Rehabilitation Hospital really appreciate the interactive services. Thanks to CareConnex they can watch television, listen to the radio and surf the Internet. These services make their stay more comfortable,” says the hospital team. “Clinical staff, for their part, now have instant access to patient data at the point-of-care, which significantly improves the workflow and, consequently, the quality of care. Moreover, as records are updated in real time, the error margin has dropped significantly.”
