Johns Hopkins Health System Selects Carefx And Imprivata

Carefx Corporation, a leading provider of interoperable workflow solutions, and Imprivata, Inc., the employee access management company, recently announced that Johns Hopkins Health System, an internationally recognized group of healthcare institutions, has selected Carefx Fusionfx and Imprivata OneSign to deliver an integrated clinical access solution that streamlines access to workstations, applications and patient data. The complete, integrated system will launch in early 2010.

Fusionfx, from Carefx, is designed to streamline clinician interaction with patient data, reducing clinical errors and increasing user productivity. By closing the gaps among varied providers, venues and information systems and synchronizing patient information, care providers can offer a more consistent, higher quality patient experience, according to Andrew Hurd, Chairman and CEO of Carefx.

"Johns Hopkins sought a clinical workflow solution that would grow with the system, one that would provide a foundation for ongoing progress and advancements in information technology," Hurd said.

Imprivata OneSign simplifies end-user authentication to applications and makes it easier for care providers to securely access patient data. OneSign easily integrates with several healthcare applications and includes support for shared workstations, roaming desktops, fast user switching, a broad range of integrated strong authentication options and password policy implementation and management.

"Clinicians are often over-burdened with the number of passwords required to access the information they need in their day-to-day jobs. At the same time, healthcare providers seek to constantly improve workflow efficiencies so staff can focus on patient care," said Omar Hussain, President and CEO of Imprivata. "By using Imprivata and Carefx together, the clinical team can ensure quick and secure access to comprehensive patient data, freeing clinicians to focus on delivering superior care."
