iPractice Group, Inc. Acquires Doctors Access
Acquisition expands iPractice Group into twenty-two additional states
iPractice Group announced recently that it has successfully completed the acquisition of Doctors Access, Inc., a Nashville-based healthcare IT provider specializing in practice management software and billing services for small to mid-sized independent practices.
The acquisition provides an immediate expansion to iPractice Group's product offering, while enhancing the geographical presence of the company's physician base by more than 20 states. A proven performer in revenue cycle management and medical billing, Doctors Access is an ideal addition to iPractice Group's extensive range of products and services available to independent medical practices.
"For nearly two decades, Doctors Access has been providing hundreds of independent physician practices with practice management software and revenue cycle services," said Ting Chang, CEO and co-founder of iPractice Group. "It is a perfect strategic fit for us to enhance our product and service offerings and further our national presence."
Doctors Access will be operated as a wholly owned subsidiary, and plans are already in place to double the support staff in order to better serve its current client base. iPractice Group seeks to make the transition seamless to current and future customers. Supporting the physicians and staff who use Doctors Access software and services remains a top priority. iPractice Group will also offer a range of expanded services, including the award-winning Greenway PrimeSUITE Electronic Health Records platform.
"The possibilities from this acquisition are far-ranging," said Jason Morgan, co-founder and COO of iPractice Group. "We're not just trying to maintain the status quo here. Our goal is to help support a growing adoption of healthcare IT solutions by the small practice. The resources of iPractice Group will allow both organizations to reach new markets and provide a stronger support network for our existing customers."
Immediate plans for Doctors Access include further development of its revenue cycle management capabilities in preparation for ICD-10, the medical classification list which must be in place by all HIPAA-covered entities by October 2013. A pre-requisite is also established for ICD-10, as Electronic Data Interchange Version 5010, and must be adopted by January 1, 2012. Long-term plans involve helping practitioners to reach the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009's HIT "meaningful use" requirements, thus allowing them to qualify for federal incentives of up to $63,750 per provider.
