July 2012 Franklin, MA – JACO, a designer and manufacturer of Healthcare workstation on wheels (WOWs), is proud to announce that Inova Health System has selected JACO as their new mobile cart partner. Along with IT solution provider MoreDirect, JACO will be working hand and hand with Inova’s deployment team to oversee the production, integration and rollout of Inova’s new fleet that will provide Electronic Medical Recordkeeping (EMR) and  Bedside Medication Verification (BMV) service to over 1,800 beds while serving over 1 million patients annually.  JACO’s UltraLite 500 Lithium Powered Series Carts will be equipped with numerous IT devices and will be powering Epic Electronic Healthcare Software (EHS) to fully automate Inova’s Health Systems workflow processes.

Selecting JACO’s Lithium Powered WOWs, Inova’s clinical staff valued numerous design features of the carts over alterative products.  Nurses first recognized the material quality of JACO’s aircraft-grade aluminum construction that is sealed with an antimicrobial, infection control ready powder coat surface and the intuitive ergonomic features of the cart. Observing the clean and simple yet elegantly styled design of the UltraLite Cart Series, Inova’s highly-skilled team of healthcare professionals have used and seen many mobile cart products over the years. They wanted a cart that would get the job done and performed as promised while being backed by a warranty and service commitment to safeguard their large capital investment.

One of the unique ergonomic features incorporated into the design of Inova’s new mobile cart fleet is JACO ergonomic TRAC Steering Systems. This patent pending technology provides traction control steering with an easy to use foot actuated pedal that delivers a centered 5th wheel that provides nurses with effortless steering of the WOWs down hallways and in and out of patient rooms. TRAC Steering has been proven to reduce nurse stress and fatigue by as much as 40% over carts without TRAC Steering. The TRAC Steering System is often compared to the steering lever on a hospital bed, making it a simple concept for clinicians to immediately adopt and benefit from.

Gary Brayton, National Sales Manager for JACO, Inc. shares his enthusiasm on the product selection process, “Inova’s clinical staff really grasped the ergonomic benefit of the TRAC Steering System during the mobile cart demo events.  One of the most critical features of a WOW for a nursing staff is a lightweight design that is easy to move. After feeling the effortless handling that TRAC Steering System delivers, nurses started casting their vote for our cart. It’s nice to know that we are able to provide a real solution that will help reduce the burden on nurses and the likelihood of on the job injuries. TRAC Steering is truly a game changing technology for the workstations on wheels market.”
