Iatric Systems Partners With Welch Allyn To Bring Vital Signs And Other Data Into EHRs
Partnership will automate capture of medical device data to reduce errors and improve patient safety
Iatric Systems, a comprehensive healthcare IT integration company, and Welch Allyn, a leading medical diagnostic device company that delivers pragmatic innovation at the point of care, recently announced a partnership to offer hospitals an automated solution for sending confirmed vital signs and other data to electronic health records (EHRs).
As part of the partnership, Welch Allyn leverages the Iatric Systems Accelero Connect solution to automate how vital signs are captured and recorded in patients’ electronic charts, saving nurses time and improving documentation. Without integration, many nurses record these results by hand and then manually enter the information into the EHR. This redundant workflow increases nurses’ workloads and the chance for documentation errors, and delays physicians’ online access to essentialpatient data.
“We constantly strive to address customer needs and find ways to further enhance the delivery of care. Partnering withIatric Systems will help our customers reach one more of their goals — timely, accurate data in their EHRs,” said Stephen F. Meyer, President and CEO of Welch Allyn. “We chose to partner with Iatric Systems because Accelero Connect has exceptional integration capabilities and is scalable. Together we can provide hospitals with an enterprise-wide solution to seamlessly capture and access patient information at the point of care.”
Accelero Connect provides a seamless connection between Welch Allyn devices and a hospital’s EHR so clinicians can collect vital signs data, validate it, and through Accelero Connect, send the confirmed results to any EHR system, regardless of vendor. The solution also supports point-of-care barcode scanning at the Welch Allyn device to confirm positive patient identification in the EHR system. With Accelero Connect, hospitals can expand EHR integration to other device types, such as smart pumps, ventilators, anesthesia machines, and others.
“Welch Allyn has built an outstanding reputation in the healthcare industry for cutting-edge medical device technology and giving frontline caregivers accurate, dependable readings,” said Frank Fortner, President of Iatric Systems. “That reputation and the goal we share — to improve lives — made Welch Allyn an obvious choice as a partner.”
Representatives from Welch Allyn (booth #3521) and Iatric Systems (booth #3217) will be available to provide more details about the partnership at the HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando February 23–27.
