Concerto Enterprise Image Viewer offers a cost-effective solution to access diagnostic images from multiple databases and share them across an enterprise or a health information exchange without high-end hardware expense.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) -- From the HIMSS Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Orion Health announces a new solution to enable physicians to view images from multiple systems without negatively impacting network bandwidth. Based on Merge Healthcare technology, Concerto Enterprise Image Viewer creates a cost-effective solution to access diagnostic images from multiple databases and share them across an enterprise or a health information exchange (HIE) without high-end hardware expense.

Orion Health will present information on the new system at the HIMSS conference, March 1-4 at booth 1911.

Paul Viskovich, President Orion Health North America and EMEA, says hospitals and health information exchanges have encountered issues in relation to access, security, storage and bandwidth which have lead to restricted enterprise-wide exchange of diagnostic images.

"Diagnostic images are an important aspect of clinical decision making, enabling physicians to properly assess risk, diagnosis and treatment. Now there is a cost effective way to access these important components of the patient's healthcare record."

Concerto Enterprise Image Viewer can display images from a PACS, XDS Repository, file system or archive from any browser on a desktop or mobile device, such as a laptop or tablet. Imaging functionality includes patient information management. The data supports the DICOM/HL7 standards and has full audit and security features. Without a need to duplicate data, storage requirements are mitigated. The use of server side image rendering significantly reduces bandwidth requirements, which was a large restriction in the past.

"Because the viewer is fully integrated with Concerto Portal, physicians are shown the images within the complete clinical record in a unified, patient-centric view without having to search individual systems. This saves physicians time and provides better data for clinical decisions," Viskovich adds.

"We are very pleased with the way Orion Health has integrated our technology," says Antonia Wells, President of Merge Healthcare's OEM business. "Medical images are a tough challenge for an HIE, yet there are cost and quality issues if they are not available for physicians at the point of care. By integrating our Cedara WebAccess™, the Concerto Portal now brings customers an easy-to-use solution to this challenge."
