Homecare Homebase Wins InterSystems' Breakthrough Application Award

Using InterSystems HealthShare Platform, Homecare Homebase Ensures Strategic Interoperability Among Hospitals, Labs, Physicians and Home-Based Care Settings

InterSystems Corporation, a global leader in software for connected care, announced that Homecare Homebase, an InterSystems application partner and leading healthcare software company serving the fast-growing post-acute-care industry, has been recognized with the InterSystems Award for Breakthrough Applications.  The award recognizes Homecare Homebase for its innovative work developing cloud-based, mobile-enabled solutions for the home care and hospice industry, leveraging the InterSystems HealthShare informatics platform to ensure strategic interoperability across diverse clinical, operational and financial systems.

Homecare Homebase offers a complete cloud-based software solution that automates business processes across homecare and hospice agencies. It offers real-time, secure data exchange across the office, field staff and physicians, connecting everyone in the patient's circle of care to improve communication, streamline operations and enable truly coordinated care.

Before using HealthShare, Homecare Homebase's interface development team was challenged to provide interoperability with each new agency and care network, including providers and health information exchanges. "Every new software environment posed a new set of challenges. It was a laborious and time-consuming process," recalled Matt Cassaro, Vice President of Technology, Homecare Homebase.

Since many of the company's end users deploy tablets and other mobile devices in the field, the interoperability challenges are even greater.  "With HealthShare as our strategic interoperability foundation, we now can respond more nimbly to the market and handle the complexities of a diverse and rapidly changing environment. No matter what applications our customers are using, or what devices they operate in the field, we know we have a solid platform that can address all of their requirements. Interoperability is no longer a challenge for us; it's now become a value differentiator for Homecare Homebase," Cassaro added.

"It has been a pleasure working with the integration team at Homecare Homebase. They are very responsive to any and all requests, turning things around quickly and providing answers to questions within the same day. In New York State, there are several RHIOs that we plan to integrate with over the next year, and knowing that we have a quality integration platform to rely on gives me confidence we can achieve our goals," said Andrew Bascom, IT Director at HCR Home Care, a Rochester, NY-based home healthcare agency and Homecare Homebase customer.

"We are proud to be working with Homecare Homebase, a leader in the rapidly growing home care and hospice industry. By relying on InterSystems HealthShare as its strategic interoperability foundation, Homecare Homebase has created a breakthrough application that will be a game-changer for making post-acute care more connected, more affordable and more patient-centric," said Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems Vice President of Strategic Planning.
