Drummond Group certifies Version 9.2 for Stage 1 Meaningful Use

Nashville, Tenn – Healthcare Management Systems, Inc.® (HMS) announced recently it has received certification from Drummond Group, an Authorized Testing and Certification Body of the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC-ATCB). The HMS electronic health record (EHR) is 2011/2012 compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Certification is the official designation necessary for the EHR to enable providers to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

"Hospitals have a unique opportunity to take advantage of ARRA and the available funds to purchase and utilize software to improve patient care and safety," said Tom Stephenson, HMS president and chief executive officer. "HMS is very pleased to offer our customers a certified product that will allow them to achieve Stage 1 meaningful use while improving the lives of their patients. We understand the challenges facing community hospitals and remain committed to delivering software that meets their needs. Our customers and staff have worked side by side to deliver a product that meets the certification requirements."

HMS launched several new products in 2010, including HMS ConnexSM, a required interoperability solution for data reporting, and will soon certify its outpatient ambulatory electronic health record for physicians.

"The need to leverage information technology in the healthcare industry is huge – as the quality of care and efficiency benefits that come with computerization can really make a difference in the overall patient experience. We're ready to help transform the industry by providing the sophisticated software testing services that ensure that vendors and hospitals are offering systems that are capable of meeting the meaningful use standards required to obtain incentive funds as well as the rich functionality required to move the clinical care needle forward," says Rik Drummond, CEO of the Drummond Group. "We have been testing software for more than a decade and are ready to leverage our extensive experience handling sophisticated systems in complex industries as well as dealing with complicated technical issues such as interoperability and security."

This Complete EHR is 2011/2012 compliant and has been certified by Drummond Group, an ONC-ATCB approved to certify any complete or modular EHR both ambulatory and inpatient, in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
