The 3rd annual #HIT100 winners were announced, and Wen Dombrowski (@HealthcareWen), a physician executive who develops technology, business, and healthcare solutions to improve the quality of life of populations with complex medical and social needs, took home top honors. Dombrowski picked up 68 votes to finish 11 votes ahead of second-place Justin Barnes (@HITAdvisor). Brad Justus (@Brad_Justus) was third, one vote behind Barnes.
The #HIT100 voting, which started “just for fun during the 2011 4th of July weekend” by Michael Planchart (@theEHRGuy), honors “those that have contributed with articles, books, blogging, tweeting, forming social networks, and by just simply giving their best to improve healthcare one grain (or tweet) at a time,” according to Planchart’s blog.
Andrew Ellis, MD, JD (@andrewrellis) created a Twitter list of this year’s 100 finalists which includes Regina Holliday (@ReginaHolliday), founder of #TheWalkingGallery, who tweeted 28 percent of 2013 finalists are members of The Walking Gallery. Holliday finished sixth this year, tied with John Nosta (@JohnNosta).
Steve Sisko (@ShimCode) tweeted “#HIT100 Trivia: Only 1 tweep made Top 5 in #HIT100 all three years (@Ahier),” referring to Brian Ahier who finished fourth this year. Ahier was first in the inaugural vote and second last year.
Sisko also tweeted “I loaded all 2011-2013 #HIT100 data into Excel and added some metadata. Send a request to shimcode@gmail.com if you want a copy,” as well as a wealth of other trivia on his stream. One additional fact mined by Sisko, retweeted by Lauren (@laurencstill): “This is what I like to see. RT @ShimCode: #HIT100 Trivia: 37 of 2013’s #HIT100 nominations are first time nominations.”
The complete list of 100 follows. In the interest of full disclosure, Health IT Outcomes editor in chief Ken Congdon (@KenOnHIT) again appears on this list.
