HIMSS14: Innovation. Impact. Outcomes. Onward.
By Wendy Grafius, contributing writer
The HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition breaks new ground each year, with leading-edge education, exhibition, networking, special events, and more. HIMSS14 will be no exception.
The largest health IT conference in North America – HIMSS14 – will be held February 23-27, 2014 in Orlando, FL. With those dates just around the corner, professionals dedicated to staying competitive and up-to-date in health IT endeavors need to register now.
While early bird registration has ended, significant savings will still be realized for those who register before January 27, 2014. All registrations after that date will reflect late/on-site rates. The registration fee to HIMSS14 includes entrance to the core educational program, exhibition, opening reception on February 23, 2014, and tote bag materials (while supplies last).
Attended by some 35,000 IT professionals, C-suite/senior managers, other management, and clinicians each year, the HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition boasts innovative, relevant, and timely information. HIMSS14 will offer 300 cutting-edge education sessions, 1,100 exhibitors, and dozens of specialty programs and networking events. Whether one of the approximately 40 percent of attendees that are newcomers to HIMSS or the 60 percent who attend year after year, here’s a preview of what’s new and exciting for all at this year’s conference:
- Attendee-friendlier schedule – more time between sessions and to visit exhibits
- “YourTurn” – attendees will determine content for the Tuesday track
- Symposia sessions – attendees recommend content
- Interoperability Showcase – interactive and attendee-engaging
- Interoperability Simulation Area – simulated physician office, operating room, and ICU
- Connected Patient Learning Gallery – interactive e-engagement showcase with innovative HIT products and services
- Beacon Communities Learning Guides – find out more about their work efforts
- Start-up Companies – new and unique exhibit
- A Hero’s Welcome – the world of health IT is introduced to returning military, veterans, and their families (funded by the Department of Labor, Education and Training Administration)

- Live polling – session interactivity
