Sprint Mobile Health Accelerator to offer 10 mobile health startups build and strengthen their businesses

A recent accelerator program sponsored by Sprint tackles wellness, chronic illness, animal health, and big data.

Sprint announced 10 mobile health-related startups have convened in Kansas City to build and strengthen their businesses in the inaugural Sprint Mobile Health Accelerator powered by Techstars, a three-month intensive mentor-driven program, located in Kansas City’s Crossroads District.

The Sprint Accelerator will provide entrepreneurs with opportunity to hone their business strategies and structure and be mentored by healthcare leaders and entrepreneurs from around the country. The program provides each startup with up to $120,000 in funding and culminates in June with an opportunity to pitch their developments to an audience of investors and business leaders.

The 10 startups currently participating include:

Akibah: diabetes management app
Fitbark: remotely monitors a pet's health
Lifeline Response : emergency medical response app
Medicast: allows users to request physician house calls from their smartphones
Ollo Mobile: home health monitoring device

Sickweather: uses social media to track outbreaks of colds, the flu and similar communicable illnesses
Symptom.ly: symptom-tracking app for patients
