With a reputation for attracting the world’s top thought leaders, this year’s Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition is no exception. Leading the prestigious list of keynote speakers at HIMSS14 is former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, scheduled to address conference attendees on February 26, 2014, at 4:30 PM in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

After nearly four decades in public service, Clinton served as the 67th Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013, in which her “smart power” approach to diplomacy helped to restore America’s global leadership and realize progress for many of our nation’s greatest security challenges. Her dedication to human rights asserted women’s opportunities as essential for a secure, stable, and prosperous world.

As First Lady from 1993 to 2001, Clinton was an advocate for affordable quality healthcare for all. Her involvement led to bipartisan efforts to establish the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Early Head Start, providing crucial support for children through age three.  In addition, she worked to improve adoption and foster care systems and to reduce rates of pregnancy in teens. Traveling to more than 80 countries, Clinton championed human rights, democracy, civil society, and opportunities for women and girls.

Elected to the United States Senate in 2000, Clinton became the only First Lady in history to serve as a Senator, representing New York State from 2001 to 2009. Again working across party lines, Clinton advocated for quality, affordable healthcare, expanding access for active and retired military personnel, September 11th first responders, and members of the National Guard and Reserves. Her historic campaign for President in 2007 to 2008 garnered 18 million votes and secured more primary wins and delegates than any other American woman.

Clinton’s public service continues to this day through the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation. The nonprofit organization promotes global health and wellness, strengthened economies, and environmental awareness by supporting cooperation between businesses, governments, nongovernmental entities, and private citizens.
