Health Language Names European Sales Director
In response to growing demand throughout Europe for its medical terminology management services that enable enterprise-wide interoperability, Health Language, Inc. announced recently that Ailene Thiel has joined the company as the European Sales Director. Based in Madrid, Health Language's second European location, Thiel will spearhead sales growth and continue to expand Health Language's European market penetration. To further serve its increasing roster of Spanish-speaking clients, Health Language has also launched a Spanish version of its website (www.healthlanguage.com).
Previously, Thiel was the Deputy Director of Finance for a major United Kingdom (U.K.) National Health Service (NHS) Trust. In this role, she implemented a restructuring plan that addressed government-mandated NHS reforms and worked with the NHS Executive to select and implement new patient management and financial systems. Her background also encompasses business development and pan-European management roles for pharmaceutical companies in Spain, France and the U.K. This included selling innovative disease management services to the NHS, as well as serving as Deputy General Manager for Spain's leading provider of online and print drug information.
"There is worldwide recognition among all stakeholders that seamless interoperability that enables the confidential and secure exchange of medical data is essential to enhance the quality, continuity and affordability of healthcare," stated Health Language CEO George Schwend. "This growing need is fueling demand for Health Language's solutions worldwide. Our Language Engine, content and tools are already being used at more than 4,000 sites in 12 countries."
Schwend continued, "Ailene's breadth of experience and contacts have provided her with unique insight into the needs and motivators of government health service purchasers at the central, regional and hospital levels in Spain and throughout the continent. This unique perspective will help ensure Health Language's continued global leadership in medical terminology management."
Health Language offers hospitals, physicians, payers, HIT vendors, government agencies, health ministries like the United Kingdom's National Health Service, and standards organizations such as the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO), the software tools needed to localize, update, disseminate and map more than 100 controlled, licensed healthcare terminologies and code sets across the enterprise. These include: SNOMED CT, ICD-9, ICD-10, LOINC, CPT, RxNorm, HCPCS and many others.
In addition to its new operation in Madrid, Health Language has an office in Leeds, England and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.
