HCA Improves Charge Capture With Ingenious Med

Ingenious Med’s charge capture and billing solution to be implemented enterprise-wide at HCA, streamlining physician workflow and enhancing quality of care

Ingenious Med, provider of the nation’s largest multispecialty charge capture and physician rounding platform, has announced an enterprise-wide rollout at HCA Holdings Inc. Following a pilot of Ingenious Med’s impower platform last year, Nashville-based HCA has begun deploying the solution to more than 4,000 hospital users nationwide.

“We are pleased to work with Ingenious Med.  They have been an exceptionally effective teammate, supporting several key aspects of the management of our practices,” said Chris Frost, national medical director of HCA. “These contributions include facilitating point-of-care charge capture, physician to physician communication, PQRS measure capture across a broad swath of specialties, and a robust reporting platform.”

Ingenious Med’s point-of-care solution automates revenue and charge capture processes, allowing physicians to more accurately capture charges while improving the quality of care. The application also provides cleaner, more accurate bills, enabling billers to review and submit physician charges within hours of an encounter minimizing charge lag and increasing hospital revenue.

“Accurate clinical charge capture and coding at an enterprise as robust as HCA can result in millions of dollars a year in unrealized revenue,” said Hart Williford, CEO of Ingenious Med. “With increasing pressures on hospital margins, senior healthcare executives are seeking new ways to reduce the subsidies paid to their physician profit and loss and generate additional revenue.”

According to a 2010 report on physician activities by the Annals of Family Medicine, paperwork takes up to as much as a third of a physician’s workday.

“Ingenious Med has an adoption rate of more than 95 percent,” added Dr. Steven Liu, chairman and founder of Ingenious Med. “Physicians nationwide are rapidly adopting our user-friendly solution because they can spend less time on documentation and paperwork and more time at the bedside providing patient care.”
