Harvard Pilgrim Selects PaySpan For Direct e-Premium, HIE Payments

Top private health plan to use PaySpan's Patient Centered Financial Home framework

PaySpan, Inc., a leading provider of health care reimbursement and payment automation, recently announced that Harvard Pilgrim Health Care has selected the PaySpan Patient Centered Financial Home (PCFH) framework to enable electronic premium payments for individuals purchasing the company's plans directly and through Health Insurance Exchanges (HIEs).

Harvard Pilgrim is a not-for-profit health services company serving members throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Connecticut. It has been named the number one private health plan in America for 10 years in a row by the National Committee on Quality Assurance*. Harvard Pilgrim chose to start with premium collection because it is the launch point for member engagement and loyalty programs within the PCFHframework.

"Harvard Pilgrim has an outstanding reputation as a leader and an innovator among health care payers," said Bill Nordmark, PaySpan's SVP of Payer Economics. "They are focused on building healthy communities by encouraging their members to make lifestyle changes and take full advantage of their plan benefits. Incorporating PaySpan's premium collection solution to simplify the financial management component of membership is in line with this mission. We are proud to help them bring this new benefit to their members."

The Harvard Pilgrim premium collection solution will go live in Q4 2014.

"PaySpan's solutions allow us to offer a streamlined member experience and provides a platform to drive greater innovation," said David Querusio, Director of eBusiness Architecture at Harvard Pilgrim. "With PaySpan, we believe we can increase the value members receive from Harvard Pilgrim, allowing us to deliver a positive brand experience that will increase member satisfaction and loyalty."
