Harrington Hospital Turns To Summit Provider Exchange To Handle Inbound Orders Workflow From Allscripts To Meditech
Longstanding Summit Healthcare client expands partnership to tackle bi-directional physician EHR integration.
Summit Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare system integration and workflow automation solutions, announced recently it has expanded its partnership with Harrington Hospital, a long-time customer of Summit Healthcare, to include the Summit Provider Exchange solution.
Harrington Hospital of Southbridge, Massachusetts, has a well-established relationship with Summit Healthcare as their integration vendor leveraging the Summit Express Connect interface engine technology and Integration Outsourcing Services. When Harrington Hospital was presented with challenges around integrating their Physician Offices with Meditech they turned again to Summit Healthcare to assist. After an evaluation period, it was determined that the Summit Provider Exchange technology solution would address the unique workflow challenges they were trying to overcome.
Harrington Hospital had purchased the Meditech inbound orders interface with the expectation that this would be a clean integration and allow for streamlined ordering from their Physician offices to their Meditech system. After almost a year of trying to perfect the workflow and integration between the systems they found themselves at a roadblock that they knew they needed to overcome. The inbound orders interface presented challenges around how the order was presented from the Allscripts system to Meditech specifically related to patient identifiers. When a discrepancy was found, rules to accommodate those discrepancies were lacking in the orders inbound interface thereby creating duplicate records. Instead of streamlining the orders inbound exchange; the end result was more complex with added processes to clean up duplicates causing frustration across the organization.
Summit Provider Exchange was created specifically to handle the unique workflow and registration challenges that often present when trying to integrate physician EMR systems with the main HCIS. Summit Provider Exchange leverages inherent features to ensure patient matching occurs on the front end and this fails, Summit Provider Exchange holds the order, providing an intuitive end user application to match order(s) to the patient and correct any discrepancies. This enables all the benefits of streamlined integration, while avoiding the pitfalls of duplicate data sets. Furthermore, eliminating calls to the physician offices to resend or modify the original order(s) for the patient.
"Harrington Hospital has such a strong partnership with Summit Healthcare as our integration vendor that when we were presented with the bi-directional workflow challenges between our Physician EMR systems and Meditech we didn’t hesitate to contact Summit Healthcare," said Adam Souvigney, Director of Applications, Harrington Hospital. "As soon as we described our workflow challenges it was immediately apparent that we would benefit from Summit Provider Exchange. We are eager to move forward with this project and expand upon our investment in the Meditech inbound orders interface. Summit Provider Exchange was the missing link. "
"Summit Healthcare has always been forward thinking on how we can best support our hospitals as they tackle integration especially those faced with unique workflow challenges with their Meditech systems," said Ted Rossi, CEO, Summit Healthcare. "Harrington Hospital has always been a trusted Summit Healthcare client and we look forward to working closely with them as they implement the Summit Provider Exchange solution. We feel confident it will solve their current integration challenge and streamline this process across the facility.”
