Gwinnett Hospital System, anchored by flagship Gwinnett Medical Center, is a not-for-profit healthcare network providing high-quality facilities and services to Gwinnett and the surrounding community. With over 4,000 employees and 750 physicians, the System provides care to approximately 400,000-plus patients.

Gwinnett opened a new hospital in October 2006. With this expansion, one of the company's main goals was to enable physicians and nurses to access information from anywhere in the facility. Another goal was to gain the ability to reach physicians and nurses in the facility without using the overhead paging system.

Rick Allen, Director of IT Operations for Gwinnett, recommended the Panasonic Toughbook® Wireless Display. Allen had previous experience with Toughbook products in the public safety segment and knew the Toughbook laptop brand was built rugged to withstand the rigors of hard mobile use that would occur in the busy hospital. When making his recommendation, he performed a simple demonstration of the Wireless Display's ruggedness to his associates. "I knocked it off my desk, let it bounce around a little, picked it up and used it," Allen stated.
