Global Healthcare Leaders Return To Massachusetts State House For E.U.-U.S. ehealth Marketplace & Conference

On Tuesday, October 21st and Wednesday, October 22nd, public and private sector health care innovators from across Europe and the United States will convene at the Massachusetts State House in Boston for the 5th E.U. – U.S. eHealth Marketplace and Conference, a two-day event designed to generate business opportunities and relationships among participating companies, organizations, and countries.

Conference keynotes and panels will tackle ways healthcare technology can address critical issues, including:

  • How informatics and genome sequencing can help combat deadly pathogens such as ebola;
  • The innovative healthcare solutions made possible through Big Data and advanced computing analytics; and
  • The ways eHealth technology is driving efficiency and patients’ access to health data.

Massachusetts’ standing as a global health innovation hub will be on display to an international audience at the event, as attendees will include public and private health care innovators, many of the Commonwealth’s healthcare systems, eHealth companies, academic institutions, medical device and life science industry associations, and several public agencies. In addition, global business connections will be enhanced through matchmaking sessions and panels which will identify shared economic opportunities.

The event, part of Connected Health Week in Massachusetts, was inspired by the E.U. – U.S. Memorandum of Understanding on eHealth and is designed to capitalize on the potential collaborative eHealth opportunities contained within the joint marketplace, which contains over 800 million consumers. The conference was formally announced at the BIO 2012 International Conference by Massachusetts State Senate President Therese Murray, and members of NIMAC, the informal organization established in 2009 by Massachusetts as the gateway for European nations to access the United States healthcare market. This will be the fifth E.U. – U.S. eHealth Marketplace and Conference, with the inaugural event held at the Massachusetts State House in October 2012 and follow up events which took place in Ireland, Boston, and Greece.
