GE's Centricity Enterprise Sees Double Digit Growth

After a strong finish to 2009, GE Healthcare's hospital EMR business, Centricity Enterprise, has surged into 2010 setting a record pace for new product introduction and commitments to the next-generation of Enterprise Orders and Medication Management solutions. Centricity Enterprise products have realized a 22% orders growth.

Since November 2009, six customers representing thirty hospitals have signed agreements to implement the solutions they'll need to prove "meaningful use" and meet the mandated computerized physician order entry (CPOE) requirement. The list of hospitals and health systems includes:

  • Continuum Health Partners (NY)
  • Moses Cone Health System (NC)
  • Oakwood Healthcare System (MI)
  • Parkview Health (IN)
  • Scripps Health (CA)

"We are focused on leveraging innovation to improve the outcomes for the patients we serve," said Ron Double, chief information officer at Parkview Health, a not-for-profit, community based health system in Indiana. "Although meeting 'meaningful use' is clearly an objective, it's not as important as the many advancements in Centricity Enterprise that will enable Parkview to meet our overarching objective of improving patient outcomes. Getting the correct information to our caregivers when and where they need it enables them to improve patient outcomes and provide excellent care to every patient, every time."

These health systems join new customers East Orange General Hospital (East Orange, N.J.) and Centegra Health System (suburban Chicago) as part of the latest round of new Centricity adopters.

"When you look at the list of our new and existing customers, you immediately notice the diversity in the health care organizations, the patient populations served and the unique facility needs," said Laurent Rotival, vice president and general manager, GE Healthcare IT. "The fact they've all signed on speaks to their strong commitment to our product and their acknowledgement of the investments we have made to expand the capabilities of our product and services portfolio. Further, they are confident that we'll help them achieve meaningful use, no matter what the final definition looks like. "

Built on the strength of Centricity Enterprise's CPOE legacy, Centricity Enterprise Orders and Pharmacy supports a facility's patient care improvement goals by facilitating integrated workflows and seamless closed-loop medication management across the healthcare continuum. A completely integrated ordering application across inpatient and ambulatory care settings, Enterprise Orders and Pharmacy provides the full continuum of patient care ordering for multiple types of care settings and providers, as well as transitions of care.
