FUJIFILM And Nuance Partner To Deliver Integrated Reporting Solution To Radiology Customers

Facilities can anticipate higher quality and consistent reporting from the companiesÕ reseller agreement and development relationship

FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc., Stamford, Conn., and Nuance Communications, Inc., Burlington, Mass., recently announced their partnership to sell NuanceÕs dictation systems to FujifilmÕs established base of radiology customers. In addition the companies have agreed to collaborate with respect to product development, aiming to provide radiologists with higher quality, more consistent reports, created in less time.

With this new agreement in place, FujifilmÕs Synapse customers at hospitals, imaging centers and radiology practices can expect two significant benefits. First, they will now be able to purchase PowerScribe 360, NuanceÕs next generation radiology speech recognition reporting platform directly from Fujifilm. This simplifies the process for the purchase, implementation and service of radiology dictation systems. The teams have already received product training and are prepared for rollout.

Secondly, as a result of the agreement to collaborate and share feedback for product development, radiologists can further expect a truly integrated product offering when utilizing NuanceÕs radiology reporting and communications platform with FujifilmÕs Synapse¨ PACS and Synapse¨ RIS. Teams within the companies are already working synergistically so facilities can benefit from a product that combines speech-enabled reporting, dictation and data analysis into one step versus three. Ultimately, efficiencies can be greatly enhanced, as can the quality of the reports that are being generated.

ÒAs a result of FujifilmÕs relationship with Nuance, our customers can expect a more streamlined reporting process, expanded product capabilities, and the ability to enhance the patient care they deliver,Ó explains Jim Morgan, Vice President, Medical Informatics for FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. ÒWeÕre prepared for a high level of demand and looking forward to delivering a unified product that provides notable improvements from a more efficient diagnostic process and access to more quantifiable data.Ó

ÒUsed by more than one third of all radiologists in the United States, NuanceÕs speech-enabled radiology reporting systems have become standard in the diagnostics space. WeÕre focused on delivering unmatched speech recognition accuracy, as well as extensive productivity, communication and administration features that help optimize the multifaceted radiology workflow,Ó said Janet Dillione, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Nuance Healthcare. ÒThis partnership with Fujifilm supports our work in radiology and allows our joint customers to more tightly integrate our complementary solutions to further drive increased efficiency and quality in reporting.Ó
