EHR solution allows doctors to see more patients, document interactions, access medical records

Doctors Community Hospital of Lanham, MD, has selected Benchmark Systems EHR to enhance clinical and operational efficiency for its ambulatory practices. The implementation is expected to provide the facility’s clinicians with tools to improve care, boost productivity, and increase revenue.

A leading provider of medical practice solutions, Lynchburg, VA-based Benchmark offers server and cloud-based software, as well as medical billing and collection services. Benchmark Clinical EHR includes a comprehensive CPOE module, current ICD-10 and E & M coding, complete FDA drug lists, and a national pharmacy directory.  Its installation will provide physicians at Doctors Community Hospital with Web-based access to patient records and diagnostic information, allow easy documentation of appointments, and facilitate treatment of more patients. With Benchmark’s billing software already in use at the hospital, charges for services will be automatically downloaded into the cloud-based format.

“Doctors Community Hospital and Benchmark Systems Inc. both believe in excellence of care,” said Ernie Chastain, VP of Benchmark Systems. “Our joint partnership provides them with the ability to maximize their staff’s resources by utilizing our award-winning cloud technology and support staff. Our five-star support rating speaks for itself. We look forward to a long term partnership and we will work hard to make their experience better every day. Just as the providers in this hospital are focused on the quality of care of their patients, we are focused on the quality of service we provide to Doctors Community Hospital.”

Located just off of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, Doctors Community Hospital was opened in 1975 by a group of leading community physicians. The 219-bed not-for-profit facility serves residents of Prince George’s County, MD, and the surrounding region. Its medical staff numbers over 600 with 1500 employees. Admitting 12,000 patients per year, the hospital offers inpatient and outpatient services, specialty and subspecialty practices, as well as ancillary and support services. A new six-story patient bed tower was recently added with 90 single-occupancy patient rooms for enhanced healing and privacy. And, a newly expanded emergency department with enhanced triage area, updated patient monitoring systems, and round the clock emergency imaging, including CT scan, MRI, radiology, and ultrasound, will enable clinicians at Doctors Community Hospital to more quickly treat greater numbers of patients with decreased wait times.
